She is also fully trained in Basic Life Support (CR/APED) from the American Heart Association and certified in fracture liaison service from the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Scott says her primary goal is to partner with patients at high risk for osteoporosis and fractures and falls. They will then act on plans to further a strong, active lifestyle.

Fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine specialist Dr. Keith Spain joined the Baldwin Bone & Joint orthopaedic team. Spain has practiced in Mobile and Baldwin counties as a sports medicine specialist since 2015. A non-surgical and regenerative sports medicine specialist, he will join the group in January 2024 at the Daphne and Foley offices. A native of Mobile, Spain is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans and attended the University of South Alabama Medical School in Mobile. He has served as a team physician for high schools, colleges, community events and pro sports teams. He currently serves as the Foley High School team physician.

Baldwin Bone and Joint will host Lunch & Learn events in Baldwin County in January. The informational events are offered complimentary but require an RSVP.

On Thursday, Jan. 11, join Holly Scott, CRNP, Baldwin Bone & Joint’s Osteo Health Clinic Coordinator as she speaks on “Understanding Osteoporosis and the Importance of Optimizing Bone Health as You Age”. The event will take place from 11 a.m. until noon at the Spanish Fort Senior Center. Those interested should RSVP at Spanish Fort Senior Bulletin Board located at 7361 Spanish Fort Boulevard in Spanish Fort by Jan 9.

Osteoporosis is a big issue for a lot of people, especially women over 50 and post-menopausal women. Nearly half of all women in those groups are likely to have a broken bone or other bone issues due to osteoporosis and 25 percent of men over 50 will likely have the same problems.

Scott, a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner since 2016, says her primary goal is to partner with those patients, identified as high risk for osteoporosis and ultimately fractures and falls, to activate a game plan to ensure a strong, active lifestyle for years to come.

Then, on Friday, Jan 12, join Dr. James Hicks, fellowship-trained neck & spine specialist with The Spine Institute at Baldwin Bone & Joint as he raises awareness and offers hope for those suffering from chronic low back pain. The Lunch & Learn event, titled “Understanding Low Back Pain & Available Treatment Options”, will take place from 11 a.m. until noon at the Orange Beach Senior Activity Center located at 26251 Canal Road, Orange Beach. BALDWIN BONE & JOINT MANY MORE MILES PROGRAM TO BEGIN JANUARY 8: For the 20th year, Baldwin Bone & Joint, P.C. will host the “Many More Miles” community outreach project, and for the third consecutive year, the local orthopedic practice will partner with Baldwin County Public Schools and City Hope Church. The 20th annual Many More Miles Campaign which will kick off on January 8, 2024, with donations accepted through March 15, 2024. The shoes collected during this campaign will go directly to individuals and families in the local communities, including foster families; local homeless communities; local nonprofit organizations; and local schools’ clothing closets. More than 4,000 pairs of shoes were donated last year. Baldwin Bone & Joint will continue to award cash prizes to the physical education programs at the top three schools that collect the most shoes.
